Clinics
In addition to general consulting, a number of specialised clinics are in operation.
Antenatal
A midwife offers appointments at the surgery two sessions per week, usually a Tuesday morning and a Thursday morning. The Tuesday morning appointment is mainly for patients attending for the first time (booking visit). The GP or midwife will explain at your first visit how your care will be organised during your pregnancy.
Child Health Surveillance & Vaccinations
The health surveillance clinic is held on Wednesday afternoons.
Checks offered:
- 6 Weeks Developmental/Physical
- The Health Visitor and a doctor are in attendance.
Developmental Checks in accordance with the National Guidance
Childhood vaccination is done only at the vaccination clinic which takes place every Tuesday afternoon.
Please telephone the surgery on 01563 522118, or call at reception, to make an appointment for either of these clinics.
Minor Illness Clinic
The minor illness clinic is a nurse-led clinic, held daily, and supported by the doctors for advice or prescriptions. You will usually be seen by the Nurse Practitioner. Common problems seen at this clinic include sore throat, sore ears, possible urine infections and rashes.
The Nurse Practitioner is Sister Stewart. If she is unavailable, advice calls will be taken by Sister Wylie.
Nursing Staff Appointments
The Practice Nurses and District Nurses also offer appointments every day. They offer a wide range of services including dressings, injections, immunisations, blood tests, removal of stitches, dietary advice, weight control counselling, blood pressure checks, ear syringing, cervical smears, Well Woman and Well Man checks. They also work with the doctors to provide regular review clinics for patients with high blood pressure, asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, and heart disease.
Please consider an appointment with one of the nursing staff, as an alternative to a doctor's appointment if your requirements fall into one of these categories.
Well Baby Clinic
A Well Baby Clinic for Mother and Baby is held by the Health Visitor on Thursday afternoons between 2.00pm and 3.30pm. This enables parents to discuss weaning, developmental/behavioural problems with the Health Visitor.
Digital Scales are available for use by asking any of the receptionists. These can be used in the Baby Change/Breast Feeding Room.
